DAAD RISE Germany (Research Internships in Science & Engineering)
Summer research internships in German labs for STEM undergraduates, with a PhD student as your day-to-day mentor. The catch is geographic: RISE Germany only accepts students enrolled in North America, the UK and Ireland — flagged here so nobody wastes a December on it.

Insider tips
- 01You apply to specific posted projects (up to 3) — the statement that names the project's methods beats a general essay.
- 02RISE alumni get preferential treatment in later DAAD funding — it compounds.
- 03If you're not in an eligible country, the equivalent move is cold-emailing German groups directly — see the funded-PhD guide; many labs take self-organised interns.
